WordPress is an popular CMS. With this CMS, you can make website with easy, simple, and powerful. And of course, this CMS is free, but not 100% free. You must have hosting or server and domain to accommodate this CMS to your hosting or server. But how if I not have hosting but I want to try or learn how to use WordPress? Easy! You can use localhost. And on this article, i want to share with you how to install WordPress on Localhost using XAMPP.
Maybe you don't know about XAMPP.
Let me introduce XAMPP. As i know, XAMPP is application who can allow you to make your computer as server. So of course, before you continue this tutorial, you must have XAMPP and installed it into your computer.
If you do not know how to install XAMPP, you can read my another tutorial, How to Install XAMPP on Windows 10 With Easy and Fast. On that tutorial, you will teach how to install XAMPP on Windows. The tutorial are included with image, so it makes you understand.
Okay. lets go to install WordPress on Localhost using XAMPP.
I marked the Download button with red circle, click it to start download WordPress, ant then save it into your computer/disk.
Step 2 : Extract, Copy Into htdocs
Second step is extract your download, after that you must copy the wordpress folder (after extracted) into your htdocs folder. If you use default XAMPP setting, the htdocs folder are on disk C > xampp > htdocs. But before you copy the wordpress folder into htdocs, you can change the folder name.
Step 3 : Run XAMPP Control Panel and Activate It!
Open XAMPP control panel. You can open it with using search feature on Windows.
After XAMPP open, start Apache and MySQL. How to start it? Just click start button beside Apache and MySQL text.
If module have green color's, it means Apache and MySQL has been activate or start.
Step 4 : Create Database for Accommodate WordPress Files
How to create database on XAMPP? Easy! You just type localhost on your browser (like Chrominium, Mozilla, and other). After it, click phpMyAdmin on menu section.
After that, our next mission is to make new database. How to create it? Choose New button in left side.
Fill the "Database name" with your name or another, its up to you. In this case, i will use my blog name, www.malikabimanyu.in, after you finish give database name, click Create.
Step 5 : Install WordPress
In this step, you must fill the address bar with this link: http://localhost/wordpress
You can choose many language, but in this case, i will use English language. After that, you can click Continue.
You will be see that page after you click Continue blue button. You just simply click Let's go! button to start the installation.
Maybe you feel little confused with this situation, but don't panic! I will teach you how to configure that installation. Let me explain one by one.

Install WordPress on Localhost Using XAMPP
Step 1: Download WordPress
First step, of course you must download WordPress on their official website. Please fill your address bar with this link: https://wordpress.org/download/. And then, you will see the download page of WordPress.

Note: If the WordPress folder has been changed with another name by yourself, of course do not use that link, but replace wordpress with your folder name. For example, your wordpress folder has been changed with omar, so you must use this link: http://localhost/omarOkay, if you done typing the link on your browser address bar, maybe you see this page.
You can choose many language, but in this case, i will use English language. After that, you can click Continue.
You will be see that page after you click Continue blue button. You just simply click Let's go! button to start the installation.
Maybe you feel little confused with this situation, but don't panic! I will teach you how to configure that installation. Let me explain one by one.
- Database name: You database name on localhost (phpMyAdmin). In this case, i use my database, www.malikabimanyu.in (If you still don't understand, you can scroll up to see step 4).
- Username: If you still use default XAMPP setting, the username must be root. So, replace username with root.
- Password: Same with username section, if your XAMPP setting still use default setting, you just make the password section empty.
- Database host: Just let it be localhost.
- Table Prefix: If you want to use multiple WordPress installation in a single database, you can change that. But in this case, i just let it be wp_
Alright, if you finish with this, you can click Submit button. And then, you will see the page which is telling you the installation almost ready. You will see "Run the Install" button, of course you must to click it.
Step 6 : Fill Your WordPress Site Information
Alright everyone. This is easy step, calm down. You just fill your WordPress site information.
Okay, maybe you still do not understand, but do not worry, I will explain to you one by one.
- Site Title: You can choose your site title here. In this case, I will give my website name, "Allah is Merciful".
- Username: If you want to login, of course you need a username, so choose whatever your username (please give polite and kind username).
- Password: Same as username, you must be fill the password section for login. I recommended to give strong password (you can see the password is strong or not with see the status below of field.
- Your email: If you do not have any email account, you can simply create Gmail account.
- Search Engine Visibilty: If you do not want your WordPress site indexed on search engine, you can check this.
Okay I suggest you finish to fill all of field. Next, you can click the Install WordPress button.
After you click it, you must see success page. On that page, you will see you login information, like username and of course password (but in password section, it will be not displayed).
On that page, you will also see Login button. Of course the function of login button is to allow you sign in into your WordPress dashboard, you can manage your article, page, media, and many more.
